2019 Wedding cake trends!

Hello 2019!

After a fabulous display of metallic's, marble effects and semi naked designs in 2018, we look forward to whats to come in 2019 wedding cake design.

Buttercream cakes are here to stay as they offer a more informal and rustic alternative to iced cakes. In recent years fresh summer fruits or wedding flowers have been used to finish buttercream and semi naked creations, however in 2019 things look to get even more creative!

Bold buttercream colours introduced through brushstrokes and rugged textures will add interest. Floral decorations will be heavily concentrated with foliage in the form of ferns, eucalyptus and herbs giving way to a more botanical theme.

Look out for details that are more bohemian and organic like dream catchers and feathers.

Metallic hoops look to be the new way to display floral arrangements. Adding structure and a key feature at the same time, they keep the design simple but with maximum WOW!

Formal Cakes are looking to make a come back but this time with more opulence and glamour! Black icing and deep background colours will allow for more delicate pastel details and metallic's to stand out.

Personalisation of cakes in the form of monochrome initial plaques, motifs or meaningful text add an air of grandeur and chic sentiment.

The Frostery

Shape will play a huge part in 2019 designs. The geometric craze has been on the interiors scene for some time and is now filtering through to cake design. We predict Hexagons to be a big hit as well as tall rectangles, one tier tall designs and short plinth combinations. By using different shape combinations you contribute to the cakes drama and bring emphasis to key features of the design.
